Business data licensing
Could your business data help train AI?
Real-world code, specialist datasets and recorded workflows may support AI training or evaluation when they match a buyer’s task and can be lawfully licensed. Selling AI training data usually means agreeing paid use rights—not making raw customer data available to anyone who asks.

What can be considered
- Company-created specialist records, code or documented workflows.
- Collections whose origin, format and limitations can be described.
- Material with permissions that can cover the intended AI use, subject to review.
What buyers may evaluate
- A clear relationship to the intended training or evaluation task.
- Meaningful labels, context or outcomes where relevant.
- Consistent coverage, known gaps and transparent provenance.
- A feasible rights and privacy position for the agreed use.
Rights and licensing restrictions
Permission for internal business operations does not automatically cover external AI training. Check confidentiality, third-party licences, customer agreements and personal-data obligations. Define training, evaluation, model deployment, derived datasets, redistribution and retention separately. Do not assume deleting source files reverses completed model training.
Licensing vs selling ownershipHow to explore the opportunity
- 01
Start with a description
Use the free assessment to identify the data type and available context. No upload or sensitive examples are needed.
- 02
Review suitability and restrictions
Read qualitative guidance and note which ownership or privacy questions need follow-up.
- 03
Explore actual interest
If appropriate, discuss a bounded opportunity with AssetGate. Pricing needs genuine interest and a defined scope; no sale is promised.
AssetGate is an early-stage exploratory brokerage in Europe, starting with the Nordics and UK.
Common questions
- Does every AI company buy external data?
- No. Sourcing varies by company and task. A potentially relevant collection does not guarantee commercial demand.
- Is anonymised data always licensable?
- No. Anonymisation does not remove copyright, contract or confidentiality restrictions. Pseudonymised data can still be personal data.
- Can I licence data for evaluation only?
- An agreement can be scoped to evaluation, if you hold the required rights. Training and commercial use need their own explicit permissions.
